Phis will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at this years' Jammys. This is a fairly big deal, as the Jammys are basically the Grammy for improvisational groups and performances, which makes this award no surprise to anyone, but is still important.
This is pretty exciting for me, as Phish is one of my personal favorite bands and is one of the few times that all the members could potentially be together in public since their finally in Vermont back in 2004. According to Peter Shapiro, the co-founder and executive producer of the Jammy Awards, a few of the members have expressed interest in being part of the show. Now whether this means performing as Phish, or one of the many other bands each member has participated in since the break-up is not disclosed, but it would be exciting none-the-less.
This years' Jammy Awards are to be held in Madison Square Garden on May 7th. Until they anounce the show performers and nominees, we'll just have to hold our breath in anticipation and if Phish is to perform, we probably wouldn't know about it until after the awards show as that would most certainly be kept as hush-hush as humanly possible.
